Truth | Five Minute Friday

It’s Friday — time to write with absolute abandon.
Why? Because it’s Five Minute Friday at Lisa-Jo’s and
that’s what hundreds of us do on Friday.

So time to start the ticker and write for
a full five minutes full-out without editing or correcting
on just one word —

Truth.  Small word — only five letters. Yet those five letters are filled with power. Truth.

Think about it. We teach our children to always tell the truth. We were taught by our parents to do the same, and so on in each family history.

Think about it. Truth is the essential ingredient in our relationships. We trust our spouses because we can rely on them to tell us the truth. We hope we can trust our employers to do the same. And our doctors, dentists, attorneys, and so on in the various relationships of our lives.

Think about it. Truth is the basis upon which our religion is founded, whatever your faith journey is. Truth is the cornerstone of my faith. I’m guessing it is yours as well. We expect our religious leaders to be filled with the truth. Truth about ordinary, every day life. Truth about salvation, grace, transformation, redemption — all the promises held between the covers of the Bible.

Think about it. Truth, together with religious freedom, is the cornerstone upon which our country was founded. Perhaps today it seems difficult to accept and believe that, but it is true. It is the truth.

The Bible tells us the truth will set us free. Do you believe the truth? Are you free?

“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
John 3:32 (NIV)

Lots of folks come TOGETHER to do this every Friday.

  1. Dear Sherrey
I find your comment at Barbie’s place and decided to visit. Truth is a Person, the only truth is our resurrected Lord Jesus, who sets us free from all that is false in our world. I think of all other truth as facts with an opposite fact as falsehood. All other truth was created and flows from Him who is Truth. Hope you understand my ramblings.

    • Mia, so glad you found my comment at Barbie’s and decided to drop by. I love your words — “Truth is a Person, the only truth is our resurrected Lord Jesus, who sets us free from all that is false in our world.” Such a powerful statement and clear observation of your beliefs and your ramblings were perfectly clear!
