It’s Friday — time to write with absolute abandon.
Why? Because it’s Five Minute Friday at Lisa-Jo’s and
that’s what hundreds of us do on Friday.
So time to start the ticker and write for
a full five minutes full-out without editing or correcting
on just one word —
I read the word “fly” and wondered how I could write for five minutes about that word. But that was because my first thought was of the irritating insect who, when it gets in the house, can buzz so loudly you want to fly — away!
But then I began to think of all the beautiful thoughts that could include the word “fly.” In addition to the irritating insect, God also created butterflies. Their wings glistening with iridescence in sunlight. Flitting, flirting, flying around the garden in the summer.
Our next door neighbor has a large butterfly bush on the other side of the fence. When in full bloom, it attracts so many of the beautiful butterflies of our area. Dancing, dancing, dancing — drawn to the heady fragrance of the blossoms. Their flight an amazing sight to see.
Yet “fly” can also mean time has taken wings and is flying by so quickly. Today I look back and realize that my baby boy is 42, our next 39 and the third 37. I’m a grandma of four and great-grandma of two with one on the way. Each of those precious gifts grow so quickly — I can’t keep up with them or the days that evaporate second by second, flying quickly from my grasp.
But God has given me the gift of time and if I allow it to fly too quickly, I have no one to blame but myself. Yet, I have the comfort of knowing God knows His plans for me so time won’t fly too quickly as long as I cling to His promises.
Lots of folks come together to do this every Friday.
