Love is Advent

Advent Wreath, Candle of Love, 4th Sunday in AdventOur Advent wreath welcomed the light of the candle of love yesterday. Once the fourth candle is lit, the light from the wreath grows stronger.

The candles’ flames cast a shadow of doubt on the power of the darkness to become the victor over light.

We draw closer and closer to the culmination of all that is Advent, the coming of the Christ Child.

This is what we have hoped for, waiting patiently for, and experiencing the joy of anticipation over for these last four weeks. He is almost here.

Can you imagine loving all others so much that you would bring a child into the world knowing that in a little over three decades he would die on a cross to save all those others from sin and death?

God loves us all, each and every one, just that much. This Christ Child we await was given to save us from our sins. He is the love in Christmas.

What a gift indeed is given us by God!

Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken
of the Lord by the prophet, saying,

“Behold, a virgin shall be with child and shall bring forth a Son,
and they shall call His name Emmanuel” (which being interpreted is, “God with us”).

Then Joseph, being raised from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord
had bidden him, and took unto him his wife,

and knew her not until she had brought forth her firstborn Son.
And he called His name Jesus.
