It’s Friday — time to write with absolute abandon.
Why? Because it’s Five Minute Friday at Lisa-Jo’s and
that’s what hundreds of us do on Friday.
So time to start the ticker and write for
a full five minutes full-out without editing or correcting
on just one word —
“What are you doing in retirement?”
The question pops up in every conversation. My response is always the same.
“I am a writer.”
“Oh, so you’ve published a book.”
“No, short nonfiction essays but not a book. And I have a couple of blogs.”
“But you said you were a writer.”
And so it goes.
Hear my words, all you lovelies who love to write!
You do not have to be published to say, “I am a writer.”
Obviously, God has planted a writing seed within you, and the passion has blossomed at the center of your heart. And so you write. Maybe in a journal. Perhaps on a blog. Maybe in a private corner of your home, or if you’re a mom of small ones, in the wee hours of the morning you’ll be found writing rapidly to get a few words down before the rest of the house begins to stir.
No matter what you write, where you write it, who sees it, who champions it, who believes it — YOU ARE A WRITER.
I never hesitate to say those words for it is who I am. Writing is my passion, it is my God-given gift and I am to share it, it is what I do every day. For me, a day without writing is not a full and complete day.
